Hello, Shwmae!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog and learn more about me.
I'm Wendy, the 'Mamgu' in Mamgu's Attic. A Mamgu (pronounced Mamgee) is a (south) Welsh Grandmother.
I live in South Wales, with my husband, Stephen, a miniature schnauzer, and a rescue cat. We are between the beautiful Swansea coastline and the breathtaking Brecon Beacons. We have two amazing grown-up children and four fantastic grandchildren between the ages of 11 and 18 months. After spending a considerable time living in various places around the world we moved here in 2007.
I have crafted in one form or another since I was a small child, trying to knit clothes for my Sindy doll (yes that dates me!), Origami as a teenager then Cross-stitch, Crochet, Sewing, Patchwork, Quilting and Machine Embroidery, and then I came across paper craft.
I had subscriptions to the first paper-crafting magazines over 15 years ago, I took my daughter to Stamping classes in Marlborough. I was always frustrated because the stamps, ink and paper never matched and as a result spent more time searching for the right colour ink or paper or ribbon in the shop only to get it home and be disappointed, and if I got half of them to match the project looked wrong due to lack of colour coordination. Frustration is not a good look on me, and I gave some of my supplies to friends and family, and left the rest in a cupboard. Even packed and moved them to Wales, but didn't use them because nothing went together.
Roll forwards 10 years, I'm looking for some creative time, something to get me out of the house, I'd reduced my work hours in the Accounts Department and wanted to meet some other crafty souls. I saw on Pinterest most of the pins I liked used this Stampin' Up stuff, I'd never heard of it, but researched on the internet, found it was available in this country and there were classes nearby. I went along to the classes for about 12 months, I had purchased products used in the classes and also online from a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in Oxfordshire. When an offer to join was launched that was too good to miss, I jumped at the opportunity to get all my quality, coordinated craft supplies at a considerable discount and I love it all!
The thing I like most about Stampin' Up? The community, someone is always there offering a hand to help you along in crafting or in life. We all know life can throw a spanner in your works, now more than anytime in living memory, but as in times past, community gets people through, and Stampin' Up is all about sharing and community. As a result I am one of those lucky people who love what they do, and who gets to share what they love - and I love paper craft. When you make something for someone in celebration or sympathy they appreciate the thought and time you have taken to make something unique for them.
I’m here to be your guide, creative coach, a friendly face and to give you fun project ideas, share special offers, and, of course, teach and show you about fantastic products from Stampin Up.
I look forward to helping you inspire your creativity!
